Tipanay Flagg is a long-time resident of beautiful Brevard, North Carolina. Her deep love for all animals inspired her to open The Grateful Dog in 2014 with the intent of providing the best quality food and supplies for the pets of Transylvania County, coupled with small-town charm and impeccable service. Outside of running one of the growing number of women-owned businesses, she enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time at home with her dogs, snakes, and chickens.

Our Story

Based on our love for helping animals and their owners, The Grateful Dog was created in 2014 with the hopes of bringing only the best in nutrition to the animals of Transylvania County.

Transylvania County K9 Unit

The K9 Unit program is one of our proudest achievements. Since opening in 2014, The Grateful Dog and Tuffy's Pet Foods have partnered to provide high-quality, nutrient-dense food for the K9 officers of Transylvania County, free of cost. Our commitment to the health and well-being of our community's working dogs is paramount; our K9 handlers consistently observe healthy skin and coats, increased drive and overall robust physical condition. We consistently sponsor K9 Unit fundraisers, offer discounts to active L.E.O's and maintain a close personal relationship with TCSO and BPD.
